It's the middle of Octopus week and if you're hungry then you might enjoy a little snack. I found this pic and recipe for "baby octopus salad" on Epicurious, a favorite food site of mine. No longer hungry? Good. Now let's feed the mind! Ever wonder where Octopi rank on the food chain? So did a little girl named Desiree -
Question: If an octopus is part of a food chain, what does it feed on? What feeds on it? D C Whitbeck
Answer: Desiree, An octopus is a very active part of the ocean food chain. Its food includes clams, crabs, lobsters, mussels, and other shell fish. It catches food with it arms and pulls them apart or crushes them. Some octopi can inject poison to paralyze its prey. Sharks and whales (and humans_th) enjoy snacking on octopi. Thanks for your curiosity,
Your teacher, Mr. Whitbeck
Day Four - Reason #4 - The Octopus has good taste.
I'm beginning to realize why Octopus Week has so much apeal for me. The eight legged epicurean has a verrrrrrrry sophisticated palette, just like me! I love lobster, I love crab and I love clams! I don't exactly catch my own crustaceans though. Maybe I should go snorkeling and see how I do?
